Use Server Settings preferences in Mail to change options for an account's incoming and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers. To change these preferences in the Mail app on your Mac, choose Mail Preferences, click Accounts, then click Server Settings. Follow these steps to set up your Internet connection if you're using your Mac's internal modem: 1. Click the System Preferences icon on the Dock and choose Network. Select Internal Modem from the Show drop-down list. Click the TCP/IP tab (as shown in Figure 1) and enter the settings for the type of connection that your ISP provides. Note: You must first setup the email account with BendBroadband prior to setting it up in MAC Mail. Learn how to add a new BendBroadband user account. Follow these steps: Open Mail. From the Mail menu, select Add Account. Result: The Add Account screen will show. In the Full Name, enter your name, or a display name you would prefer.

If the Email Help Tool doesn't offer instructions for your mail clientor if you want to set up your client directly, you can manuallyconfigure your email client or device by using the settings in this section.

Note: If your email uses an Exchange mailbox and you don't want toset up the connection to use the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) orPost Office Protocol (POP), you can find information for specific clients anddevices in Configure email clients and mobile devices for email hosted onExchange.

To learn more about the differences between IMAP and POP, see IMAP and POPmail protocol comparison. Werecommend using IMAP for the incoming mail connection.
